Eye Movements
Where people’s eyes move gives us a lot of information about how they think and process information. About 90% of people move their eyes in the way shown on the left; the direction of the remaining 10% of people is a mirror image of the chart:
Eyes Up & Right – This is where the remembered pictures and images are; they may be stills or movies.
Eyes Up & Left – This is where people construct new images, maybe putting together two or more remembered images to create a new one. This is where visual creativity (and lying) lie.
Eyes To The Right – This is where remembered sounds are stored; whole conversations may be stored here for years.
Eyes To The Left – This is where new sounds are constructed and created in a way similar to visual construction.
Eyes Down & Right – This is where we have internal conversations with ourselves, once a decision is made we look up again and start talking again.
Eyes Down & Left – This is where current and remembered feelings, emotion and sensations are found, often accompanied by a deep breath.
Looking Ahead – This is where memories are kept by those people who live in the moment.
